Benjamin B. Kelly

Benjamin B. Kelly began practicing law immediately after he received his Juris Doctorate, from The John Marshall Law School in 2000.  During law school Benjamin participated in Moot court and was on the dean’s list. Prior to law school, Benjamin completed his undergraduate studies at the Illinois State University.

Today, Ben focuses on the area of civil litigation. As a seasoned trial attorney, Benjamin’s many successes have been published by The Illinois Jury Verdict Reporter and the Illinois Settlement Reporter, some of which are as follows:

  • $665,000 wrongful-death settlement where decedent hit a semi-truck.  Black box showed decedent speeding at time of accident. Federal Court November 2007 (Lead Counsel)

  • $505,000, settlement at trial for police officer who slipped and fell on ice.  February 2007 (Co-Lead Counsel).

  • $186,000 verdict for a Chicago Police Officer hit by a car while on duty after sustaining a knee/shoulder injury requiring arthroscopy. Insurance company refused to tender $20,000 policy. Solo-trial August 2006 (Lead Counsel)

  • $140,657 verdict for an elderly woman who tripped on a 2-inch city sidewalk defect. Solo-trial August 2002 (Lead Counsel)

  • $505,000 for a 75-year-old woman bit by a spider at an Off-Track betting parlor. Jury trial September 2003 (Co-Lead Counsel) (Largest recovery in Illinois for insect bite)

  • $275,000 settlement for a minor with burned foot and lower leg injured while playing with other minors. February 2007 (Co-Lead Counsel)

  • $242,481 for a 73 year old man that tore his rotator cuff when he slipped and fell in a department store. Jury trial July 2001 (Co-Lead Counsel).

  • $23,677 verdict for man with soft tissue injuries against City of Chicago in auto accident case. Chiropractic bills were $5,000. Solo - trial July 2002 (Lead Counsel)
