Thomas H. Murphy

Thomas H. Murphy joined The Vrdolyak Law Group in June of 2003 after practicing law at a civil defense firm for 6 years litigating major personal injury and medical malpractice claims.  He brought this extensive experience to The Vrdolyak Law Group and now concentrates on major personal injury and medical malpractice claims.

Tom is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the South Suburban Bar Association, and the Will County Bar Association.

Tom received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona and his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, cum laude.  He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

 Below is a list of some of the results Tom has achieved for his clients recently.

  • $3.95 Million for a women requiring leg amputation due to a hospital’s failure to diagnose a vascular injury. Settled August 2007 (Lead Counsel).

  • $3 Million for families in connection with repeated negligence which resulted in stroke and possibly deaths at medical facility. Settled June of 2008 (Lead Counsel).

  • $2.5 Million, a record high jury verdict, for a family of a child killed by a grocery delivery van. Tried July 2005 (Co-Lead Counsel).

  • 2.4 Million for a female train passenger, who suffered multiple back injuries when the train collided with an automobile. Settled September 2009. (Co-Lead Counsel).

  • $1.65 Million for the family of a union worker killed on the job while back loading equipment from a stage at a concert venue. Settled August 2006.

  • $1.3 Million for the family of a woman who died from a physician’s failure to diagnose lung cancer.  Settled February 2006 (Lead Counsel).

  • $600,000 from nursing home for family of 82 year old man beaten to death on its premises. Settled February 2008 (Lead Counsel).

  • $400,00 from a physician who failed to recognize signs of possible brain hemorrhage for family of 78 year old woman who died from alleged negligence. Settled June 2008 (Lead Counsel).

  • $393,000 for industrial painter who herniated lumbar disks while exiting a scissors lift at work. Settled April 2009 (Lead Counsel).

  • $360,000 for woman who aggravated her longstanding Complex Regional Pain Syndrome after falling at a supermarket. Settled April 2009 (Lead Counsel).
